Jasper shuddered. Anger filled his senses, he knew it was only temporary, it was a matter of time before they returned to their previous mood. ---Why did these wolves have to complicate everything?--- he thought to himself. He tried to think of how to handle the situation, but his military career as a confederate soldier hadn't prepared him for werewolves preventing the Cullens from going home. This was ridiculous, so superficial, so infantile.
"Look, we mean no harm, it's been a long day, and all we want is to go home..." Jasper thought for a second, making sure there were no loop holes. "...with our cars."
He tried to make his face appear genuine, and sent another wave of calm. It wouldn't do much good, but, he had to do something.

"Bella no!"
Edward saw what she was about to do, but his call was a moment too late. She punched the wolf and almost immediately began cradling her hand. Edward stepped toward her in concern, but he froze when the girl began to shiver in anger. Acting on instinct, Edward slammed Bella's car door shut and met her gaze through the window.
"Stay there!" he ordered. He had half a mind to tell her to drive away, but the wolf was still in the bed of her truck. He kept his gaze locked on it, highly aware of Jasper's presence beside him and extremely grateful for it. He was, no doubt, the source of the air of calm that seemed to descend down upon them.
"My brother is right," he said, not daring to take his hard stare off of the wolf. "This isn't the place for a fight, and none of us are looking for one." The wolf was still baring its teeth and Edward's jaw tightened as he angled his head to the side, still keeping her in his sight.
"Tell her to calm down," he called out to the other members of her pack in a tightly controlled voice. "I don't want to have to fight her but I will if she doesn't contain herself. She's placing us all at risk."

Nathan slowly stepped forward, between the Cullen boys and Lexi. He faced the blonde and the bronze haired vampires, his back to his sister. "I don't know if she can calm down. She had an...accident before. She might not phase for a week." He said, waiting for Lexi's growling to stop.
Jesse rolled off of Leah and helped her up gently, still keeping a distance from Lexi. "Sorry about tackling you. I didn't want you to get hurt."
Lexi's gaze followed the human as she sat in the truck. She was beginning to calm down a bit, forgetting her rage, but she was no where close to phasing. She growled at Nathan for getting between her and the Cullen.
Roxie reached forward and stroked her sister's fur. "Lexi. Calm down. It's alright." She whispered, ready to phase at any moment.

Jasper released relief into the atmosphere, though this time it was genuine. He appreciated the wolf's peacefulness, and knew that even between rival species there could be some sort of communication. He was also grateful for the space between himself and Edward and the angered wolf. However, concern washed over him. ---What accident? Was it during the last fight? No, Jacob was far more injured than she and he is still fine, wherever he is. And besides, wolves heal rapidly, what could have impaired her so? And besides, what injury would compell her and her pack to want to violate the treaty to sit on cars in the school parking lot?--- he thought to himself.
"I understand. I don't believe we've met. Jasper Hale." ---Why not take the chance to introduce myself while we are friendly terms?--- "And this is my brother Edward Cullen." Jasper wasn't sure if he should introduce Bella, it may spark things up again. Something about her seemed to draw danger from every corner; good thing we found her or she would be in a body cast all the time.
Some of the tension melted, and the blonde brother sent another wave of calm. He directed his thoughts to Edward.---I think they're friendly, probably just worried about the female. If something had happened to her that was severe enough to keep her from phasing well, little things may just push them over the edge when normallly they could tolerate it. I believe them sincere.--- Jasper knew Edward's protective qualities over Bella, and he completely understood. However, he knew how Edward could lose control, and he had to make sure that didn't happen. He was reassured when the situation turned a corner, and intended to make the best of it. Perhaps he could learn a thing or two about what happened to female...

Nathan saw the confusion of the vampire who introduced himself as Jasper's face. "Her...accident. It hurt her brain. She...doesn't function like a normal human...or werewolf. She is fueled by anger and it seems the human upset her. I don't think she will calm down for a while now." He explained, glancing back at Lexi from the corner of his eye.
Hopefully it would not be like last time. She had spent a whole year as a wolf and Nathan had to force feed her so she wouldn't starve to death.

A pang of sadness was picked up from the wolf who had spoken. "I'm sorry. That must be hard on you." Jasper sent a tide of calm once more, though it wasn't nearly as nessesary as before. ---Maybe we should talk to Carlisle about this later, Edward. There must be some componant of the brain that is affected when they become werewolves.---he thought to Edward. "We didn't mean any harm, and especially not to worsen her condition. If it is alright with you, I think it would be best if we all returned home."
He stepped forward toward the 'friendly' wolf desperately trying not to show how much his scent disgusted him. A faint wisp of remorse still flowed from him. As the rest of the group began to dissolve, Jasper approached the wolf's shoulder and whispered "Look, I really don't wish to pry, but I need to know if this was an accident, or if someone outside your pack attacked her; if there is something that dangerous out there, we need to know what to keep an eye out for."
If there was something out in La Push or Forks, the wolves were a crucial alliance that they could not afford to lose.

Bella obeyed Edward and watched in horror as the werewolf snarled down at her through the glass. She could see that the wolf was calming down a little, but still feared for her safety.
Bella watched Jasper and Edward talk to the others. Jasper was a bit calmer then Edward, but that was understandable. Bella's eyes searched for Edward. When she found him her eyes commanded him not to do anything rash. Once she felt she had done that, Bella turned her gaze back to Jasper.

Jasper saw Bella's chocolate eyes search for Edward, then turn to his. He genuinely believed the worst was over, and tension began to wind down, and he showed it in his eyes. While Edward's priority was to protect Bella, Jasper understood this completely, as he was with Alice, but he also knew he had to tell Bella what he himself believed, not what Edward wanted him to tell her. The corners of his pale lips turned upward ever so slightly, and sent peacefulness through his golden eyes, not through his ability.
His shoulders relaxed, and now all he had to do was to give a first-impression of alliance and trustworthiness. Jasper simply hoped the werewolf's reply was that of a misunderstanding within the pack and one of their own simply lost control. Unfortunately, he knew not to keep his hopes up. By the tone of the dog's voice, the subject was fragile, which showed signs of vulnerability which was rare by the fact that they had an arrogant reputation. He just had to wait for an answer.

Nathan flinched away from that question. He motioned for Reggie and Roxie to help get Lexi out of the human's truck while he tried to explain the horrible event to Jasper. "No. It wasn't an accident really. It was a rouge vampire. It was by our house and Lexi was home alone. She tried to drive him away but... he wasn't alone. It was another coven, as large as my pack. They...beat her over the skull. Fractured it a few times. She was in a coma for a few weeks. But no...it was not an accident."
Reggie obeyed and ducked behind the truck to remove his shirt and pants. He tied them around his leg with a shoelace and phased into a red wolf. He growled lightly at Lexi, his eyes full of pleading. She seemed to recognize him and he backed away toward the woods, hoping she would follow.
Roxie followed Reggie's lead and tried to coax Lexi to the woods, though in human form. She patted her sister and spoke to her soothingly, talking about all the wonderful food that was waiting at home and how she could make the red go away.
Lexi followed the familar voice, guided along by talk of beef-jerky. The most exciting reward was release from the red that clogged her head and stained her vision. If that could go away, for even a moment, she would do anything to make the fury go away.

Jasper was speechless. His worst fear was realized, but he knew deep down that the answer was not the incident he thought it may have been. Carlisle hadn't spoken of any comas, they were rare in Forks, occasionally in winter when the roads were slick and tourists hadn't used chains on their tires, but still, rare. He wasn't sure if he should ask anymore questions, but the matter concerned him too. He struggled not to release his anxiety, it could reverse all the effort he had previously made for peace. He made a mental note to ask Carlisle later.
"Well, I can assure you they are no friends of ours. If you have any problems in the future, well, we wouldn't grieve their loss anymore than you would. I cannot promise my family's assistance, but I am glad you shared this information with us. We will alert the others to be wary of unusual scents. But I must warn you, it is extremely unusual that our kind travels in large groups, especially those of their diets. They are distinguished by red eyes, not of gold as ours are. I urge you to be cautious, and if they are headed toward the treaty line, I plead that you will call us."
Jasper looked toward the asphalt beneath him and continued allowing his uneasiness to show in his eyes. "We need to protect the ones we love as you do." his voice endinig on a sad note. ---Edward, relax. When they have led the female away and we aren't in each other's way, we need to bring Bella back to the house. I will inform you in the car. I don't mean to alarm you, but we need to call Alice, and I need to see Carlisle.--- Jasper wished with his heart that his brother would wait to panic after the wolves departed. It was crucial that they were allies again. These were not newborns. They attacked werewolves. Worry spread throughout the soldier. He could feel his head compress, and he began to tremble.
