Bella looked up at Edward, then at the girl. 'What, is she THAT dangerous?' She thought to herself. The vampire had done nothing to her and wasn't planning on, or at least that's what she thought.
When Edward appeared Bella relaxed a little, knowing she was safer now, but tensed when he confronted the girl. "How did you know I was here?" She asked him astonished. Bella put her hand on Edward's shoulder in order to calm him down.
In her mind the situation wasn't as serious as Edward took it, but she didn't who was the correct one this time.

"I wasn't going to" Rose retorted sharply to the newcomer. "Bella and I were just talking-honest. You must be a Cullen - the eyes give you away." Rose held her chin high. Did this vampire think she would be so rude as to hunt in their boundries! She straightened her shoulders and stood up from the tree she was leaning on, before extending her hand. "It's Rose, by the way. Just because you're too rude to introduce yoursself doesn't mean I will be."

Edward, calmed by Bella's touch, relaxed slightly and straightened. He stared at the vampire's outstretched hand for a moment before taking it calmly.
"Edward," he said evenly. "Cullen. Though you seem to already be aware of my last name," he added wryly. He studied Rose with careful eyes.
"Forgive me for being rude. I have reason to be concerned, however, when my fiancee is alone and unprotected with someone with a diet such as yours," he said, making a point of staring into her red eyes. "I'm sure you understand."
He shot Bella a look of mild exasperation, wanting to know what she was doing alone by herself in the woods again in the first place, but he bit back his words and instead fixed his attention once more on Rose.
"May I ask how it is you know of us?"

"Rumours here and there." Rose replied with a shrug of her shoulders. "I had nothing to do, so I thought I'd come and meet you. And I wasn't planning on hunting here, not humans anyway. That would be rude." She looked Edward up and down. How did he know she was here? He obviously had some idea, with the speed he came rushing in at. And a vampire and human to be married-that could only end in tears she thought wryly.

Bella glanced between Edward and Rose. She still didn't totally trust her. She seemed in a way as cold as Sophie, the vampire she had met earlier.
Bella clenched Edward's hand and looked deep into his golden eyes, into the deep abyss of them. There was nothing there, at least nothing that she could see or detect. What was he feeling and more importantly what was he planning.
"Edward, I know you want to know what I'm doing here, but I will tell you later because as you know now is not the time." She whispered to him. "Edward I know y

"Thank you," Edward said to Rose, relaxing further at her assurance of not hunting there. "It's much appreciated. Our family has reasons to be discreet, of course."
He studied the red-haired vampire before him, frowning slightly as her thoughts rang out in his mind. He couldn't fault her for them, of course. Any vampire learning of his plans to marry Bella, a human, would no doubt be incredulous and pessimistic concerning the event. There was a time when Edward would have felt the same way. But that was before he met Bella. Suddenly the impossible seemed possible ever since she came along. His love for her conquered all boundaries.
Bella's whisper reached him then and he held back a reluctant smile as he nodded. He wasn't angry with her, of course. Sometimes she exasperated him to near incapacitation, however. He turned once more to Rose.
"My famliy's home is not far from here. You're welcome to visit, of course," he said politely. She didn't seem to be a threat as he'd originally thought, and Edward knew that making more enemies at this point would be extremely unwise.
"Are you traveling alone?" he asked after a moment.

Rose watched to two in front of her. As unlikely as it was, she could see they really cared for each other. The love between them was obvious as they stood close, and in Edwards protective stance. She wondered how they'd managed to make the relationship work, and how they planned to keep it working. Bella after all was only human, and humans died.
Rose smiled wryly at the last question. "Unforunatley yes." she said, thinking of her dear Thom, gone forever. She couldn't help but envy these two, and all they had. "But I'd love to visit. Some company is always nice, with so much time spent by myself. Tell me, how do you resist humans, living is such close proximity. No offense" she added, smiling at Bella. "I mean, without getting away to clear your head at all. "

Edward held back a grimace at the question and turned to look at Bella with conflict in his eyes. "It's not without its difficulties," he murmured after a moment. But his gaze turned warmer as he gripped her hand tightly in his and a sad smile found its way to his lips.
"Our coven has an easier time of being around humans what with our diets, of course, but I suppose the only real explanation I can give for this," he said, lifting his and Bella's intertwined hands indicatively, "would be...love." He smiled slightly and placed a kiss on Bella's hand. "A much more powerful emotion than I once gave it credit for."
He returned his gaze to Rose's. "I know how it must seem. I don't fault you for being surprised by it. It's just not something I can explain. All I know is that I love her and that I would harm myself in an instant if it meant keeping her from harm."
Edward studied the vampire before him, hesitating, wondering if he should. He'd caught a glimpse of something in her thoughts. A glimmer of a memory. One that might mean she knew something about what he spoke. Then...
"Have you ever felt that way for another?" he asked calmly. "Loved another? It might be easier to understand...though I don't mean to pry," he finished, his velvet voice soft as he watched her carefully.

Rose took a sharp breath as Edward asked her the question. It was like he could read her thoughts, and draw from them the questions that hurt the most.
Her eyes were sad as she answered him. "Once" she admitted in a sad voice. Why was she telling him this, someone she'd only just met. "He was the one that turned me. Our parents didn't approve of the relationship, but it didn't stop us. And then, he was turned, and I was turned, and suddenly we were free. We could be together at last, without protocal and arranged marriages getting in between us. Until years later, an old enemy caught up with him while I wasn't there. I found him, almost gone, out of my reach. " She bit her lip and watched the ground at her feet, trying to silence the quiver in her voice.
"I should've been there" she whispered angrily, and with clenched fists. She was absorbed in memories of times long past.

Bella grasped Edwards hand tighter as she listened to Rose speak. Compassion spread through her. She felt almost sorry for the vampire. She wouldn't know what to do if she lost Edward. She would probably kill herself because there would be no reason to live.
Bella looked into Rose's eyes. She had once loved someone, like her, and then lost him. It was so sad especially because she felt it could have been prevented. Bella leaned against Edward, her warm skin against his marble stone.
'But still what was she doing out here?' She though to herself for she even now did not no the answer. Bella squeezed Edward's marble hand once more, ad then gently entwined her intertwined fingers away.
She took a cautious step forward, towards Rose, and away from Edward. 'She won't hurt me...will she?' She thought to herself, even though she knew she knew the answer. Bella didn't stray further then a step or two from Edward, but still she did create a friendly gap between them, so that she, now was kind of in the middle of the two vampires.
Bella looked back at Edward, her eyes shimmering in the light and smiled. Bella didn't know exactly what her plan was yet, but she did have something in mind.
