Jasper could not withhold a chuckle at first Nathan's newfound formality and of Reggie's blunt question. He had not told the pack about this fact, and decided that full disclosure was not too much to ask for.
"You do not have to be ashamed. The more knowledge we know about each other, the more easily we can protect each other. Those of our kind who drinks the blood of humans have irises of red, while those like us--" he motioned to himself, Desdemona, and Donahue. "--and when our throats thirst for drink, our eyes darken to the color of our pupils."
He gazed around the pack, and shook a few flakes of new-fallen snow from his hair, all of the crystals perfectly preserved in his body that chilled to the frosty air around him.
"Well, I believe I, on behalf of my family and myself, owe you lunch. Your pick, of course." Jasper gave a small smile, knowing he would have to prepare Donahue and Desdemona for the stench of human food.
When the eyes of the pack were off of him for a moment, he glided past Nathan with his feet hardly touching the flaky snow, and whispered so only he could hear.
"You do not need to speak with such formality. I only do so because of my dialect. Old habits die hard, as you say." He gave him a soft pat on the shoulder, and waited to run to wherever the pack pleased to go.

Donahue laughed at Reggie's question but grinned down at the boy. He wasn't too different from himself, he thought. Blonde hair, his eyes were blue like his had been. He was even of the same build and his voice... it was too familar. For a moment, he entertained the notion that Reggie was a descendent of him, but pushed it aside, reprimanding himself for getting his hope up. "Jasper is right. We just had some elk, so they're gold now." He chuckled at the look of amazement on the boy's face.
Desdemona giggled at Reggie's awe of Donahue and saw their resemblence. She turned to the pack and nodded with Jasper's statement of owing the pack dinner. She knew she couldn't eat anyting and wrinkled her nose slightly at the thought of being surronded by human food, but she would do it for the pack. "Yes, that sounds great. Where would you like to go?" She asked, her voice soft and still shaky from the encounter with Lexi.

Nathan nodded, his cheeks flushing a dark red. " I understand." He tried to summon words to apologize or to explain but he just couldn't. He turned his gaze to Donahue and Reggie and smiled, ruffling his hair to ensure it didn't become too tidy. He turned to Jasper when he spoke again, and then to Desdemona, and back to Jasper again. "Oh really? Well...I can't say no. We packed a picnic basket but...it only fits so many steaks." He grinned, taking the basket from Roxie and opening it to reveal no less than a dozen steaks wrapped in their crisp white paper. "Thanks, where do you wanna go guys?"
Reggie smiled up at Donahue and laughed, picturing him taking down an elk with his bare hands. Surprisingly, the image didn't frighten or disgust him. Vampires had to eat too right, why not eat deer and stuff? His train of thought was derailed immediatly though, when Nathan spoke of food. "Cool! Can we go to the new buffet place! They got steak and pasta and a whole desert table and..."
"Woah champ, calm down." Roxie said, placing her hand over Reggie's jabbering mouth with a smile. "That sounds fine with me, and I know Nathan doesn't mind buffets in the least." She grinned at him and looked over at Jesse and Leah. "We might have to wait a second though, they're still talking." She hiked a thumb over her shoulder to indicate the two. She looked over at Lexi and sighed. She walked over to Nathan and whispered, "We have to take Lexi home. It wouldn't be wise to take her in public with those two." She rolled her eyes over to Desdemona and Donahue. Nathan nodded and Roxie moved to her sister's side and grabbed her hand. "I'm going to take my sister home guys, wait up!" She said before taking off into the forest, hand-in-hand with her dobbleganger.

Jasper winced as Roxie spoke of taking her sister home. The vampires had better hearing than they thought, and he only hoped that Des and Donahue were not offended. Cutting the tension, he spoke once more.
"If I may, there is something that need be said. We are all friends here, and though our species are different, with few similiarities at all, if there is anything you wish to know about our kind, that is to say vampires, do not hesitate to ask. Nothing will offend us. We seem strange, but most of it is only from our decades of birth, not from what we became. Now then, that is settled, and the buffet it is. Of course, we will take precautions so as not to raise eyebrows at the three of us not eating."
Turning to the vampires behind him, he whispered at rapid speed.
"Have you been in contact with human food before? We wil balance this pack quite well. We put the same food on our plates as they do, and as they finish their food we replace their empty plates with ours, giving us the appearance of having eaten while making them look slightly less hungry. Slightly." Jasper added, recalling the food he bought that night in the clearing, and how quickly it was cleared away.
Smiling, Jasper walked to nowhere in particular, withdrew his lighter, and smashed it in the new-fallen snow with his foot. He now had no need for it, and for once he would not have to look over his shoulder with the pack, and the two new vampires around.

Desdemona's face fell into a weak frown as Lexi and Roxie dissapeared into the forest, but she forced herself to smile. She listened carefully, nodding as Jasper spoke. She smiled and glanced at the pack. It didn't look like they could eat two plates each, but she was sure they would manage. "That sounds good." She looked with intrest as Jasper pulled out his lighter and her breath caught in her throat and she took an involuntary step back. She smiled and stepped forward again though, when he ground it into pieces with his foot. She looked at Donahue out of the corner of her eye and giggled.
Donahue looked with sympathy at Desdemona and patted her reassuringly on the pack. He payed strict attention when Jasper spoke, not taking his golden eyes off his. "I think we could do that." He said with a chuckle, looking at the pack. He heard the strangled sound of Desdemona and looked to see Jasper with the lighter. He raised his arm defensivly and his face turned scarily threatning. He immedatly relaxed as the lighter was destroyed beneath Jasper's heel and looked at his feet, ashamed that he had jumped to conclusions. He met Desdemona's eye and smiled.

Roxie had left Lexi at their neighbor's house, assured that everything would be fine. She raced back to the clearing and tripped as she slid to a stop, collapsing against Nathan with a weak chuckle and a muttered, "thanks". She looked up and smiled at everyone, giving a thumbs-up. "All right, I'm ready. Now we just have to wait for those two love-birds." She pointed at Jesse and Leah.

Jasper chuckled at Roxie's remark. He looked around the pack, and spoke.
"Well, when you're ready, we'll be off. I assume you all would feel more comfortable as wolves, as well as speed. We can give you some privacy, and will come back when you tell us to. This way we can travel at similar speeds."
He suggested this, and walked quietly over to Desdemona and Donahue.
"Will you be alright if the pack is in wolf form? It is against our instincts to let down our gaurd against them, but we need to get used to them. You may remember that they are quite large, but you must also remember that they are our friends, truly."

Donahue glanced over at the pack. It was hard for him to imagine them turning into huge wolves. Espically little Reggie, how could someone so young be forced to go through something so horrible? He shook his head in pity for the boy. " Yes. I...we, have dealt with wolves before. I don't think there will be a problem. Desdemona?" He asked, looking up at his pack member, who was becoming more of a replacement sister than anything.
Desdemona turned away from the pack, letting them talk amongst themselves. She nodded in aggreement with Donahue's opinion. "I agree Don. We should be fine. It's easy to distinguish that their scents are friendly." As she said this though, she wrinkled her nose in anticipation of the smell that would worsen when the pack changed.
((OOC: That's okay, mine are short too. I don't know where Leah is, but Jesse has to talk to her...))

Nathan nodded in thanks and turned to his pack, nodding to them also. He dissapeared silently into the thick trees, where he stripped out of his black tee shirt and blue jeans. He tied them loosly around his ankle with a piece of twine and concentrated on phasing. He was the first to emerge back in the clearing, his copper red hair shining as he lay down, head on his paws.
Reggie glanced over at Leah and Jesse and rolled his eyes. He followed Nathan's lead and walked into the forest, removing his AC/DC tee and shorts. He put them in a backpack and phased into the giant blonde wolf. He picked the bag up in his teeth and trotted after Nathan into the field.
Roxie held back a bit, staring at Jesse. She shook her head and walked into the green, making sure to stay well away from Nathan. She took off her blouse and sweatpants, tying them into a knot and putting them in her mouth. She phased gracefully into a mousy brown wolf and trotted smoothly into the clearing.

Jasper watched as the wolves trotted into the clearing. He carefully walked slightly in front of Donahue and Desdemona, his arms slightly out at his sides, ready to calm them down if needed. Pulsing serenity and soothing waves into the atmosphere, he raked back his hair, somewhat confident in the vampires' resistance.
Not recognizing the pack by coat colors, he slowly walked around them and stood in front of the first wolf. Looking into his, or her, dark eyes, he spoke the first name he could think of to the copper-colored wolf.
"Nathan? Is that you? I am sorry, but you all are fairly unrecognizable.
