Desdemona couldn't deny it, the pack was both impressive and threatning in their wolf forms. She shrank back and opened her mouth to snarl, momentarily blinded by the smell wafting from the creatures. She sensed Jasper's hand in front of her and soon felt calmed, and closed her mouth, looking at her feet in a slight embarassment. She shuffled her feet, not sure if she should go closer.
Donahue was not frightened or angered by the wolves, rather, he was intrigued. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped. He took a step forward, but was stopped by Jasper. Sudden waves of calm ran through him, and it felt strange, as he was already calm to begin with, and now he felt lazy and serene, as if someone had just given him morphine. He smiled dopily and shook his head, trying to clear the effect. He looked over at Desdemona and flushed, seeing her embarassed for snarling. He nudged her shoulder. "It's okay Des. I bet they expected that."

Nathan sensed Desdemona's fear, it was like the air shifted. He looked in her direction and narrowed his eyes when she snarled. He was still tense, even when she was calm, but was distracted when Jasper spoke to him. He nodded and barked, making eye contact with Jasper. He wagged his large tail a few times for good measure.

Jasper chuckled at Nathan's wagging tail. Though he was used to Jacob phasing, that was Jacob, and with his burning stench he tried to avoid him. These wolves stank to him as well, but at least their company was pleasurable.
He strode around the space, making sure he knew the identities of the other wolves. The last thing he wanted was a mix-up. Leah's sandy-colored coat was familiar to him, as well as her scent, but the newcomers were different. After the strange introductions were made, he coiled the backs of his legs, and prepared to run as the pack did.

((OOC: aw...that's sad. Jesse is single then. ))
Jesse sighed and turned, not watching Leah as she dissapeared into the forest. He shook his head and walked away, phasing and coming back to the clearing. He forced himself to smile at Nathan and nodded to Jasper, and then took off in the direction of the buffett.
Nathan watched Jesse and Leah with curiosity and he knew it couldn't be good when Jesse didn't even hug her goodbye. He smiled back at Nathan and let out a bark as he took off, sprinting after him.
Reggie wasn't even paying attention to Jesse, he was waiting for Nathan's signal, his tongue hanging from his mouth. He howled when Nathan barked and followed them, running at full sprint to the buffett, Roxie on his heels.

Desdemona was surprised by the copper wolf's - probably Nathan's - bark, and gave a small jump. She cringed as they one-by-one began to run and then took off after them, making sure she didn't get too close. She stayed a few yards back, easily following their scent and keeping a steady pace. "I didn't know they could run so fast!" She said, in awe.
Donahue couldn't help but smile when Desdemona jumped, but he did the same at the loud howl that came from Reggie. He ran when Desdemona did, making sure Jasper followed, and then settled into the comfortable monotony of running, enjoying the feeling of his hair whipping around. He smiled at Desdemona's announcement and nodded, at a loss for words.

Jasper took off into a run beside Desdemona at a steady pace behind the wolves. He withheld his chuckle as she jumped at the noise, then at her comment.
"You would be surprised how tough they are. They truly are great protectors, and when hiwe are their allies we shall be safe. And believe you me, they may very well strip that buffet bare."
As Jasper streamlined himself against the arctic wind, he felt his hair blow behind him, creating a sort of blond trail behind him. As the air whistled around his ears, he suddenly felt as if he were between worlds, and would finally find peace in this no man's land of running.

Jesse was the first one to reach the buffett, dashing behind a dumpster and changing quickly into his human form, slipping on his clothes and stepping out just in time to see Nathan burst from the forest, the others on his heels. Jesse scoffed and walked huffily away into the resturant, sliding into a large booth at the back.
No matter how hard he had tried, Nathan couldn't get Jesse to slow down or to wait. He couldn't tell what was wrong either, Jesse made his mind blank. He saw the look of pain on his face before he walked into the resturant and whined. It hurt to see his brother in pain. He stopped in the trees and changed hastily, dashing after his distraught brother.
Reggie could hear Nathan's mental shouts at Jesse and could see how worried he was for his brother. He searched for Leah's presence, but couldn't find her. He heard a bark ahead from Jesse when Reggie thought of Leah and Reg whimpered. He didn't look at his brother's as they ran into the buffett, as he changed, all he could think about was how he wasn't hungry anymore.
Roxie changed before Desdemona, Jasper and Donahue got there, and was waiting for them, sullen-faced. "Jasper...what's wrong with Jesse? Can you tell?" She asked, her voice soft and her arms holding herself together, as if she would fall apart at any moment. She smiled weakly at Reggie and shooed him into the resturant, wanting to talk to the others alone.

Jasper was still in awe of the magnifiscent transformations that took place before him. The wolves were human again, and strolling around the sidwalk as if nothing had ever happened. It was still incredible how normal this all seemed, how even Jasper was accustomed to this life after a century and a half, when no one should feel at ease with it.
There was, however, a scent that he did not detect here. Where had Leah gone? He thought she had run ahead of the pack on their way here, and the snow had absorbed her fragrence. Had she been troubled along the way? Doubtful. Then, Roxie came up beside him, asking him what he thought was the matter with Jesse.
Sure enough, a whispy bubble of sadness and solemnity could be felt within the atmosphere. He had known of their feelings for each other, but if Leah had simply left, wouldn't he just see her later? Did he know why Leah vanished?
"I cannot say. I have a feeling that it involves Leah's absence. What I know for sure is that he is devastated, and that we must find some means of contacting Leah to find out why she abandoned us. For right now, let's try to keep his mind off of things."
Jasper sent a small pool of calmness throughout the atmosphere, and hoped that it would help. As he walked with Roxie into the buffet, his eyes found Jesse. This was not the sort of meeting he had hoped for.
