Donahue didn't notice the humorous banter between Jasper and Desdemona, he was taken aback in shock at the rush of emotions that came at him from the pack. Hate, Love, Loathing, Jealosy, Betrayl, Confusion. He shook his head as the feelings and causes of those emotions filled his head. The most shocking to him was Roxie's, and he stared at her unblinkingly. How could he have overlooked such strong love? How did the pack not notice? Did Jasper know? Donahue looked at him, trying to see a change in his expression, shock or realiziation. He jumped when Nathan hit the table and turned to look, watching curiously as Reggie whispered to him. He sent a worried look to Jesse and sighed, looking back at Jasper and Desdemona.
Desdemona smiled, glad she could at least make someone laugh. "It's wonderful. Before..." She paused, not sure how to go on. Mentioning Kasimir and Deynira felt like a taboo, so she looked at Jasper pointedly. "Before that fight, we had just traveled alot, you know? It's nice to be able to settle down." She grinned, catching Jasper's undertone. "Yes, it's wonderful. Life couldn't be easier anywhere else." She winced then, as Nathan slammed down his fist, causing her to jump a foot. She looked at him angrily, wondering what the cause was, but her gaze softened as she heard Reggie's words. Poor Nathan, poor Jesse.

Jasper was startled by many things within those few minutes. First, the waves of ever-changing emotions. The intensity and severity of these emotions shot his nerves, making his hands knot nervously through his golden hair. The power of his feelings raced throughout Jasper's core, making his skin tingle. When Nathan's fist slammed into the table, it nearly sent him over the edge.
What he felt most of all, however, was the depression eminating from Jesse. He knew that Donahue must be having similar issues with his ability, and knew he had to calm Nathan down whilst reviving Jesse's spirits. Suddenly, he was filled with a sublte anger.
"Nathan, a word?" He got up from the table in one short, elegant move and strode quickly, for a human, past the herds of humans that smelled more appealing than the last. He beckoned for Nathan to follow, knowing the anger radiating from the wolf could not possibly be originating from any reason other than Jesse's hearbreak.
Jasper waited for Nathan to follow, mustering up what to say to him exactly while also halting his breath as he stood beside one human that smelled particularly sweet to him. Thank goodness Edward wasn't here, nor anyone else to read his mind. What truly concerned him, however, was in truth Jesse, and his breaking heart.

Nathan flinched from Jasper's rough voice. He could almost smell the anger radiating from him, and it was evident in his voice. Did he know why Nathan had hit the table. Nathan hung his head, ashamed at his childish behavior and edged out of the booth to follow Jasper. He caught up with him, seeing him pause by a human. Nathan grabbed his cold arm and steered him away, out the door and out of ear-shot of his family.
"Listen, I'm sorry about that. I got carried away. It's just..." He sighed in exasperation and clutched at the air above his head where his hair had been before he had cut it. His hands fell back to his sides limply. "...can't you do anything to help him? I'm...scared." He swallowed and a cold sweat broke out on the back of his neck. It was hard to admit this to someone he had once thought of as the enemy. " The last time something like this happened...he tried to kill himself. Taunting enemy vampires. That was just a regular girlfriend. What is he going to do now that the love of his life has left him?" He asked, his eyes prickling with angry, frustrating tears.

Jasper was whisked away by Nathan out the door of the buffet and into the open air. If he had the blood within his body been able to pool within his cheeks of embarressment, he would have given Bella a run for her money. His fingers knotted within the curls of his golden hair, and he murmered a quiet apology.
"Sorry about that..." Jasper really wished Nathan would never learn about his weakness, but apparently there were no secrets between them anymore when he spoke about Jesse's past.
"It seems as though he is quite the romantic. I cannot do anything, I am afraid, anymore than you can. My ability is an illusion, temporary at that. False in its entirety, the only possible truth behind it are the memories I recall into my mind that reproduce that emotion for me. All it would do would be to confuse him further, and make him stray from the facts of his own being, and heartbreak. "
Jasper looked into Nathan's eyes, and continued. "There is something I can do for you, if you wish. If you worry about him being alone in this state, I could...watch over him so you and your pack might not have to make shifts for watch and sleep. Without his knowledge, of course. I will do anything for you, Nathan. You have done so much for me."

Nathan's breathing hitched and he looked up at Jasper. He would do that for him? Nathan opened his mouth to speak and closed it again, like a fish gasping for air. He closed his eyes and shook his head angrily. "No. I can't ask you to do that for me. You have your own family to take care of." He opened his eyes again and rubbed them with the heel of his hands.
"You've already done so much for all of us. I couldn't possibly expect that of you." He forced himself to smile, but it didn't seem to fit right on his distraught face. "We got through it last time, I'm sure we can do it again." He took a step back toward the resturant and paused, turning back to face Jasper, a new thought in his head. "Jasper...do you think that if...Jesse fell in love again...his pain would be lessened?" He asked, his voice a whisper as the pain cut him deep. He couldn't believe he was saying this, putting the one he loved up for grabs. But...did he have a choice?

Jasper was confused at the array of emotions before him eminating from Nathan. The mix told him that it seemed as if he was in mourning, but the look in his eyes spoke of self sacrifice.
"Love is strange, and it seems the only cure for a broken heart is to patch the holes with part of another. It could work, but why must you give up your own happiness? You do so much for everyone else, and little for yourself, from what I understand of you. Much like Bella, it seems. It is honorable for you to give so much for your friends, something I can only dream of doing. And while I do have a family, there is little that can disturb our peace. Your calling on our assistance should not be hesitated." He stood, shifting his weight and trying to forget the tempting smell inside.
"Tell me what to do to help, I will not take no for an answer. The smallest of tasks would greatly help my conscience."

Nathan bit his lip in confusion. He wanted his brother to be happy, but did that mean giving up the only thing that kept him grounded? He shook his head and ran his hands through his hair in frustration. He turned to Jasper, his eyes wide and feral. "Do you think you can help me find Jesse an imprint? I don't know too much about the system, only that you have to see them but... it's the only compromise." He shook his head and growled, angry at himself for not being strong enough to sacrafice for his brother.

Jasper felt the different emotions streaming through the wolf before them, and he wished he knew what he was thinking.
"I hardly know anything about it either, but the best thing to do is to have him look at every woman possible. The hard part would be getting him there, being that he does not seem up for the social scene right now. Nathan, is it alright if I ask you a personal question? You may refuse to answer me, and not offend me at all."
Jasper cleared his throat out of old habit rather than nessesity, and asked.
"Nathan, is the reason that you do not want to sacrifice her for your brother is because you love her?"

Nathan bit his lip and looked back at the diner. He could see Jesse sitting at the table through the window, picking at the spagetti with a fork, staring at the table in front of him. Nathan sighed and turned back to face Jasper. "It'll be hard, but..." He sighed again, not wanting to finish that sentance.
He looked up again as Jasper was going to ask him a question and his heart stuttered at Jasper's observation. Nathan shook his head and stared at the ground, a million thoughts running through his head. "I....think so. It's hard. If it was imprinting, I would know, and that's not it, but it's the closest thing I've got." He looked up at Jasper, his eyes moist. "I don't think I can loose her to him again."

Jasper took one long breath to save for speaking, and held it as he put his hand on Nathan's shoulder.
"Imprinting is not the only kind of love. to me it seems the easiest, where people no longer get in their own way of love, and instead only do all that they can to be together. You don't have to lose her again, you can keep her forever."
Jasper sighed, and reluctantly inhaled again.
"Now, where do you suppose we look for Jesse's soulmate?"
